    Preconception & Early Pregnancy Care

A healthy pregnancy begins well before the first ultrasound. Dr. Sushree Patra emphasises preconception counselling as a vital step for women planning to conceive. This consultation focuses on evaluating medical history, identifying underlying health conditions such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, or hypertension, and optimising overall health before pregnancy. Nutritional guidance, supplementation advice, and risk assessment for prior pregnancy complications are discussed in detail to reduce preventable risks early.

The first antenatal visit is typically recommended between 6–8 weeks of pregnancy. During this stage, early pregnancy development is assessed, necessary investigations are initiated, and a structured care plan is outlined. Clear communication during this period helps patients understand what to expect physically and emotionally, creating a strong foundation for the months ahead.  Dr. Patra’s approach ensures that every pregnancy begins with careful planning, early screening, and personalised medical attention tailored to the patient’s health profile.

    Antenatal & High-Risk Pregnancy Management

Pregnancy care is never one-size-fits-all. While many pregnancies progress smoothly, some require closer monitoring due to medical or obstetric complexities. Dr. Patra has focused expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies, including those complicated by pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, thyroid disorders, recurrent pregnancy loss, multiple gestation, or previous complicated deliveries.

Her management approach is structured and vigilant. Regular monitoring of maternal blood pressure, blood sugar, and fetal growth is carried out alongside timely investigations to detect early warning signs. Individualised antenatal plans are created to address specific risk factors, ensuring both maternal and fetal well-being remain central to decision-making.  In complex situations, she coordinates multidisciplinary support, including neonatology and critical care services when required. The emphasis is always on early detection, calm clinical judgment, and proactive intervention to ensure the safest possible outcome for both mother and baby.

  • Painless DeliveryComfort-focused labour care with safe and effective pain relief

    Painless Delivery

Dr. Sushree Patra provides comprehensive support through labour and delivery, ensuring that both mother and baby are cared for with close medical supervision and a structured delivery plan. Every pregnancy is unique, and decisions regarding labour are made based on the mother’s health, the baby’s condition, and the progression of pregnancy.

Where medically appropriate, normal vaginal delivery is encouraged, as it allows quicker recovery and fewer post-delivery complications. However, when circumstances require it, caesarean section (C-section) delivery is performed with careful planning to ensure the safety of both mother and child.  For mothers concerned about labour pain, painless labour (epidural analgesia) may be offered in coordination with the anaesthesia team. This approach helps significantly reduce labour discomfort while allowing the mother to remain awake and actively participate in the birth process.

  • Labour, Delivery & Postpartum CareGuiding you safely through birth and into early motherhood

    Labour, Delivery & Postpartum Care

Labour and delivery are managed with a strong focus on safety, preparedness, and evidence-based decision-making. Dr. Patra supports supervised vaginal deliveries wherever clinically appropriate while remaining vigilant in high-risk labour scenarios. Decisions regarding caesarean delivery are made based on maternal and fetal indications, with transparency and patient involvement in the discussion.  Close monitoring during labour allows timely response to complications, ensuring both maternal stability and fetal well-being. In cases requiring advanced neonatal care, coordination with NICU teams is planned in advance.  Postpartum care extends beyond delivery.

Recovery assessment, blood pressure and glucose monitoring where indicated, breastfeeding guidance, and awareness of postpartum emotional health are integral components of follow-up care. Structured postpartum supervision ensures that mothers transition safely into recovery while maintaining long-term health stability. Dr. Patra’s obstetric practice is rooted in vigilance, clarity, and compassionate care, supporting women confidently through every stage of pregnancy and childbirth.
